Lydcare is a focus in the Community

History

Lydcare, (formerly Lydbrook Community Care) was established in 1994 to help socially excluded older and disabled people and their carers/spouses to remain independent members of their community. The charity is run by a voluntary management committee with a part time salaried office base of a Project Co-ordinator and a Project Assistant as well as a part-time Advocacy worker. From this administrative base all of our services are volunteer led and volunteer run.

Where we work

The Forest of Dean is an area which has a known history of deprivation and isolation. Lydcare provides a range of services to help socially excluded vulnerable people to remain independent valued members of their community.

What we do

Our project runs a number of services to alleviate the practical disadvantages of living on a low income in a deprived, rurally, former mining area. We work on behalf of approximately 650 older people, the majority of whom are 70-80+ years of age.
